Every spring and fall, over 150,000 people make the drive to a tiny stretch of Texas Highway 237 for what has become one of the most celebrated antique markets in the world. Dealers from across the country set up in fields, barns, and tents across Warrenton and Round Top. The show stretches for miles. First-timers often have no idea where to begin.
Start at Zapp Hall. Here is everything you need to know.
What Is Texas Antique Week?
Texas Antique Week -- also called the Round Top Antiques Show or Round Top Antique Week -- is a biannual antique market held every spring and fall in and around Round Top and Warrenton, Texas. It is not one show. It is dozens of shows, markets, and venues spread across a 20-plus mile stretch of Highway 237 in Fayette County, drawing dealers and shoppers from across the United States and internationally.
The spring show runs for approximately two weeks in March. The fall show runs in October through early November. There is also a smaller Christmas show in December, and winter show in January. Each show brings a different mix of dealers, live music, events, and energy -- but the geography stays the same.
Getting There from Houston and Austin
Round Top sits almost exactly halfway between Houston and Austin -- roughly 90 miles from each. That makes it one of the more accessible major antique markets in the country for either city, and it is why the show draws the crowd it does.
From Houston
The drive from Houston to Warrenton is approximately 90-100 miles and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on where you are coming from and show-week traffic. Take US-290 West toward Brenham, then cut south on Highway 237. You will know you are getting close when you start seeing hand-painted signs and vendors setting up in fields on both sides of the road.
From Austin
From Austin, the drive is approximately 80-90 miles and takes around 1.5 hours. Head east on US-290 toward Giddings, then south on Highway 237. The approach from Austin and Houston converges on the same stretch of 237 -- which is why traffic during peak show days can back up for miles in both directions. If you can arrive before 9am or after 3pm, do it.
Plan to Stay
Most serious shoppers stay at least one night, often two or three. Hotels in Round Top itself are limited and book up fast. Brenham (about 30 miles north) and La Grange (about 20 miles south) are the most common base camp options with more hotel availability. Check our visit page for more directions and logistics.
What Is Zapp Hall?
Zapp Hall is a 1903 Texas dancehall in Warrenton that has been the heart of the Round Top antiques scene since 1987. It sits at 4217 S State Highway 237 -- right on the main drag, impossible to miss -- and serves as one of the anchor venues of the entire show.
On any given show day, you will find 50-plus antique dealers spread across the grounds, live music on the porch stage, Royer's Cafe serving gourmet comfort food, the Bubble Lounge for drinks, and a rotating lineup of evening events that runs from ticketed headline concerts to free themed prom nights.
It is the kind of place that first-timers walk through and immediately understand why people plan their whole year around this show. The combination of a historic venue, quality dealers, food, music, and pure Texas atmosphere is not something you find anywhere else on the 237 corridor.
What to Expect at Zapp Hall
The Dealers
Zapp Hall hosts a curated mix of antique and vintage dealers every show -- furniture, art, jewelry, textiles, collectibles, and plenty of things that defy easy categorization. The dealer mix changes each show, which is part of why regulars come back every season. See who is showing up on the current dealers page.
The Food
Royer's Cafe at Zapp Hall is one of the most talked-about dining experiences at the entire Round Top show. Gourmet comfort food, legendary pie, and a line that forms fast. The Bubble Lounge handles drinks.
The Music
Live music runs every single day of the show. Singer-songwriters, Texas country acts, and regional bands rotate through the full two-week run. A few times per show, Zapp Hall brings in a headliner for a ticketed concert inside the dancehall. Check the events page for the current lineup.
The Evening Events
After the shopping wraps up, Zapp Hall is where the night happens. Themed prom nights, late-night karaoke, and ticketed headline concerts keep the grounds going well past dark. Every show closes its second week with a prom -- free entry, live music until midnight, and a crowd that plans their outfit months in advance. Full details on the events page.
Show Dates
Zapp Hall is open during the Round Top spring and fall antique shows, plus the Chrstmas show in December, and winter show in January. Current show dates are always posted on the Zapp Hall homepage.
The spring show typically runs for approximately two weeks in March. The fall show runs from mid-October through early November. Both are roughly the same format -- same venue, different dealers, different events, different season.
One thing worth knowing: the spring show in March and the fall show in October are peak seasons for the entire 237 corridor. If you are visiting for the first time, either show works. If you are a repeat visitor, most people have a strong preference for one over the other. The spring crowd tends to skew slightly younger and the energy is different from the mellower fall show, but both are worth the drive.
Tips for First-Timers
Wear comfortable shoes. You are walking in a field. Wear shoes you would wear to a festival, not a mall.
Bring cash. Many dealers are cash only or have unreliable card readers due to spotty cell service.
Arrive early. The best pieces go fast. First day, first hour is not an exaggeration.
Have a plan for getting things home. You will buy something large. Everyone does. Know your options before you get there.
Check the events page before you go. The evening events at Zapp Hall are worth planning around -- especially the ticketed concerts, which sell out.
